Celebrating the end of the Winter Semester, students from both the Fachschule and the HTL participated in our annual Contest of Spoken English.

Round 1 of the contest consisted of sitting through a short interview. Round 2 involved collaborating with a fellow student in order to organize an event.

Lea Petrovic from the 3AFCHU won the competition; Emily Mocan from the 4AHCI came in second place. 

Inspired by the 2023 film, The Holdovers, directed by Alexander Payne, Lea, Emily, and their fellow participants received copies of Meditations, by Marcus Aurelius, generously provided by Metrohm. Gift certificates for the bookstore Hartliebs, sponsored by our community's Alumni Association, VÖCHICHT, as well as several other prizes from several other sponsors were also awarded, including tickets to Vienna’s English Theater provided by the theatre itself, gift certificates from the publisher HTP, and an extraordinary trip to Ireland sponsored by Cooltours. Our school's Parents' Association provided generous brunch to all participants.

Lea and Emily will go on to compete in the city-wide English Language Competition -- the Wiener Sprachwettbewerb -- on February 28th at the Wiener Bildungsdirektion. We wish them good luck and hope they have a great experience.
